Coffee roasting software, from seed to cup
Everything your roastery
needs, from seed to cup.
Green buying, roasting, blends, cupping, planning — Droptime runs that today, and is building openly toward wholesale and the café. The roast logger at the start of it all is free, open source, and downloadable right now.
THE JOURNEY
Five stages. One system.
Labeled honestly.
A roastery and its cafés — or a roastery with a book of wholesale accounts — should need one system, not eleven. That’s where Droptime is headed, stage by stage. Here’s the map, with what’s real today marked apart from what isn’t yet.

Stage 2 shipped first — free & open source
Live roast logging, free forever.
The Droptime Logger is a free desktop app for Mac and Windows that logs your roasts live from your machine. It’s open source (AGPL), local-first, and complete — not a trial, not a hook. Your roasts live on your disk and export anytime.
- Setup wizard finds your roaster — live temperatures in about 3 minutes
- Every sample hits disk before the screen; force-quit and lose nothing
- Roast against a previous roast: ghost curve, spoken cues before each milestone
Intel Mac? Download the Intel .dmg · v0.2.0 · ~15 MB · no account · release notes
Mac builds are signed and notarized by Apple — download, drag to Applications, open. On Windows, SmartScreen may warn (signing is coming): click “More info,” then “Run anyway.”
HERE TODAY
The working core,
already shipped.
None of this is roadmap. Source, roast, and produce run in Droptime now: inventory that empties itself as you roast, batches explained in plain language, blends that survive a lot change. Import your Artisan history and it lights up around your own data.
SOURCE · GREEN INVENTORY
Know you’re running out before you’re out.
Every roast automatically depletes the lot it drew from, so your green-on-hand is always real. Droptime forecasts each lot’s depletion date from your actual production velocity — and because it learns how long your replacements take to land, it tells you when to buy, not just when you’ll be empty.
- “You’ll run out of the Colombian in ~3 weeks. Your last two replacements took 6+ weeks to land — buy now.”
- Buying dashboard sorted by real urgency, not shelf order
- Landed cost, shrinkage, and yield tracked per lot
ROAST · ARTISAN IMPORT
Bring every roast you’ve ever logged.
Roast live on the free Droptime Logger, or keep Artisan at the machine — either way, your history belongs in one place. Drop a folder of .alog files into Droptime and every batch becomes a structured record: curves, RoR, first-crack markers, DTR, weights. No manual data entry, no new habits at the drum.
- Native .alog import, plus CSV from any logger
- Batch import: 20 roasts in, 20 charted records out
- Duplicates deduped, missing markers flagged for review — never guessed
ROAST · AI READOUT
Every batch, explained in plain language.
The moment a roast lands, Droptime tells you what happened — against your profile target and your last ten batches of the same coffee — and suggests one or two concrete adjustments for next time. Then you can ask follow-ups, and the answers come from your actual curve data, never invented numbers.
- “Your RoR crashed to near-zero at 8:10 — a stall right after dry-end.”
- “Try a 5–8% gas cut 30s before dry-end to hold momentum.”
- Ask “why did my RoR crash at 8 minutes?” and get a grounded answer
PRODUCE · BLEND CONTINUITY
Your flagship blend, steady through every lot change.
Recipes are easy. Keeping the house blend tasting like the house blend when a component lot runs out is the hard part. When a lot trends toward empty, Droptime proposes ranked replacements, predicts the flavor impact in plain language, and drafts a bridge schedule that feathers the changeover — sized to finish exactly as the old lot empties.
- Ranked replacement candidates from your shelves and importer offer lists
- Plain-language flavor-impact notes per candidate
- Step-down bridge ratios your customers never taste
THE WHOLE ROASTERY
Deep where it counts, light everywhere else.
Roast curve analysis
Dual-axis BT/ET and RoR charts with ghost overlays, phase shading, event markers, and crosshair scrub.
Grounded AI, not a chatbot
Every AI answer is computed from your own roasts, lots, and cuppings. If the data isn’t there, it says so.
Production planning
Demand in, batch schedule out — respecting machine capacity, rest days, and delivery dates. Edit it by talking.
Cupping by voice
Talk through the table; get a scored SCA form. Ambiguous notes are left blank for review, never guessed.
Roastery chat
“What’s my margin on the decaf right now?” answered from real landed cost, yield, and price — components shown.
Purchase orders & offers
Receive a PO and the lot appears with its landed cost — while Droptime learns your supplier’s real lead time.
Consistency views
Overlay batches of the same coffee, see the envelope of your last N roasts, and catch drift before customers do.
One-click export
Everything — roasts, raw files, ledger, blends, cuppings — as JSON, CSV, and your original .alog files. Yours.
FLAT PRICING, ON PURPOSE
Your bill shouldn’t grow because your roastery did.
No volume tiers. No per-machine fees. And your whole team is included — we don’t charge per seat. Your data is yours, export anytime. The pricing is a position, not just a number: software that punishes growth is software built for someone else.
