Live capture, via the free Logger

The Droptime Logger is a free, open-source desktop app for Mac and Windows that logs your roasts live from TC4-compatible machines. Local-first — every sample is written to disk before it reaches the screen — with a setup wizard that finds your roaster in about three minutes. Export .alog and drag it into Droptime; Cloud sync is in build to make that automatic.

Artisan import that just works

Drop one .alog or a whole folder. Droptime parses the full profile — BT/ET series, CHARGE, dry-end, first-crack, DROP markers, weights, notes — and maps everything to a canonical roast record. CSV from other loggers works too, with a column-mapping wizard that remembers your presets.

A curve chart built for roasters

Dual-axis temperature and rate-of-rise, ghost overlays of your profile target and past batches, phase-shaded drying/Maillard/development, labeled event markers, and a crosshair that reads out time, BT, RoR, and DTR-so-far as you scrub.

The readout — and the follow-up questions

On save, Droptime writes a plain-language account of the batch: how it tracked against your profile and your last ten roasts of the same coffee, what looked off, and one or two concrete next-time adjustments. Then ask follow-ups in plain English — answers are computed from your actual curve arrays and markers, never made up.

  • “Your RoR crashed to near-zero at 8:10 — a stall right after dry-end.”
  • “Try a 5–8% gas cut 30s before dry-end instead of at dry-end to hold momentum.”
  • Ask: “is this batch flicking?” or “how does today’s DTR compare to my best-tasting Ethiopia?”

Fair questions

No — and it’s not trying to. Artisan is excellent at live roast logging, and most of our users keep using it at the machine. Droptime is everything after the drop: cloud history, comparison, the AI readout, inventory, blends, planning, and QC. Import is native, so the two work together without friction.

When your source supplies RoR we use it. When it doesn’t, we derive it from the bean-temperature series with the same smoothing approach Artisan uses, and we validate against Artisan’s computed values on import. Flat-lined probe segments are detected and excluded rather than skewing the curve.

The roast imports with a needs-review flag and Droptime asks you to place the marker on the chart. The readout won’t invent a first-crack time that isn’t in the record — that’s a hard rule across the product.
